National Anthem Project
I would like some feedback on what you thought about singing the Star-Spangled Banner together over the intercom. Is that something you would like to see again? We have the capability to plug a tape player or CD player straight into the intercom system, and could make singing patriotic songs part of the morning announcements if you think it would be a good thing. Comments?

My children were not quite sure what we were singing even though we had talked about it. However, when the song came on (even though they didin't know the words) their faces lit up because it was something they recognized from ballgames and such.
When they first come to K they don't know the Pledge either but many have learned this already because we do it every day.
Maybe it would be good for them to sing it each time they go to music.
I think that singing our national anthem on Mondays to start our week would be great.
I also agree that our children need to be familiar with many patriotic songs, so the random singing of a variety of patriotic songs once or twice a week to start the day would be good.
Maybe after we get started, you could even take "requests" from different classes of what to sing for the day. I think any class would like to hear their teacher's name mentioned on the speaker, such as "This song goes out to Mrs. Jones' 4th grade class!"
Mrs. Miles and I already sing the National Anthem each morning. I think it would be a good thing to sing it school-wide. Then the kindergarten students would be able to sing along at ball games. Back in the dark ages when I was a student at Graham, we sang every morning.
